THAI MASSAGE
The term “massage” can be misleading—perhaps the expression “passive yoga” helps to give an idea of what Thai massage is.
In fact, the stretches into which the body is guided often resemble yoga poses. And like yoga, Thai massage aims to bring us into holistic balance—physically, mentally, and emotionally—but not through active exercises, rather through completely passive surrender.
Sensitive pressure and traction, gentle rocking, playful joint movements, twists, and stretches synchronized with the breath stimulate and harmonize the flow of energy in the body.
In this special kind of communication between practitioner and recipient, akin to a dance, both arrive in the present moment through surrender and conscious slowness, experiencing inner peace and centering. This can lead to a state between wakefulness and sleep, a space of complete stillness where a feeling of oneness and wholeness arises.
